At PlaylisterUK.co.uk we take editorial accuracy seriously and are committed to correcting significant errors promptly and transparently. Our corrections policy is designed to maintain trust with our readers, artists, and the wider UK music community. If you spot a mistake in any of our articles, playlist features, reviews, or interviews, we want to hear about it. We will investigate every report thoroughly and, where a material error is confirmed, update the piece and clearly note the correction.
How to Report an Error
Please send details of the error to our dedicated corrections team at corrections@playlisteruk.co.uk. You can also use the general contact address contact@playlisteruk.co.uk, but the corrections inbox ensures your report reaches the right desk fastest.
What We Need From You
- The full URL of the article or page where the error appears
- A clear description of the mistake – for example, a misstated fact, incorrect name, wrong date, or factual inaccuracy
- If possible, the correct information and a source to verify it (eg a direct quote from an official release, chart data, or a link to an artist’s verified page)
- Your name and contact details (optional, but helpful if we need to follow up)
Anonymous reports are accepted, but providing a way to reach you in confidence can speed up the process.
How We Handle Corrections
All correction reports are reviewed by our standards desk, led by Thomas Ellery, Standards & Fact-Checking Lead. He or a member of his team will assess the claim against our editorial standards and source verification guidelines. Material errors – those that could mislead a reader about a core fact, a credit, a date, or the substance of a story – trigger a formal correction process.
Material Errors
When a significant mistake is confirmed, we update the article and add a correction note at the top (or immediately after the headline, depending on layout). The note is formatted like this:
Correction: An earlier version of this article misstated [the artist’s debut album release date]. The article was updated on [22 March 2025].
If the error appears in a headline or metadata, we correct that too and note the change. For added information – such as an omission that changes the meaning – we include an update note: Update: This article has been updated to include comment from the label. All correction and update notes are dated and remain visible in the published article.
Minor Errors
Trivial mistakes – such as a single typo, a missing space, or a minor grammatical slip that does not affect clarity – are fixed silently without a correction note. If you believe a minor error should be treated as material, please explain why in your report.
Response Time
We aim to acknowledge every correction report within five working days. Simple cases are often resolved within that window. Complex investigations – for example, a disputed fact that requires contacting multiple sources or reviewing audio/visual material – may take longer. We will keep you informed of progress by email if you provided contact details.
Serious Errors
Any error that could significantly damage a reputation, misrepresent an artist’s work, or breach editorial standards is escalated immediately to Editor-in-Chief Oliver Kingsley (oliver.kingsley@playlisteruk.co.uk). He oversees the final decision on corrections, retractions, or published apologies where warranted.
We do not issue retractions lightly, but where an article is found to be fundamentally inaccurate or based on unreliable sources, we will clearly retract it and explain why. The original piece may remain online with a prominent retraction notice for transparency, or be removed if legally required.
Our corrections policy sits alongside other editorial safeguards. For further details on how we verify facts, handle complaints, and uphold standards, please see:
