We are committed to maintaining the highest editorial standards at PlaylisterUK.co.uk. If you believe we have published inaccurate, misleading, or otherwise objectionable content, we encourage you to submit a formal complaint. Our procedure is designed to be transparent, fair, and efficient, ensuring that every concern is taken seriously and reviewed thoroughly.
How to submit a complaint
All editorial complaints should be sent via email to complaints@playlisteruk.co.uk. To help us investigate your concern as quickly as possible, please include the following information in your email:
- The full URL (web address) of the article or page in question.
- The publication date of the content.
- A clear and concise reason for your complaint, specifying the exact statement, claim, or element you believe is in error or inappropriate.
- Supporting evidence or documentation that substantiates your challenge (for example, a link to an official source, a direct quote from a record label, or a statistical reference).
- Your full name, your relationship to the subject (if any), and a contact email address or phone number so we can respond directly.
Anonymous complaints will be considered if they are submitted with sufficient verifiable evidence, but we may be limited in our ability to follow up fully. For the swiftest resolution, please provide your contact details.
How we handle complaints
Once we receive your complaint, we will send an acknowledgement within 5 working days. For straightforward issues — such as a factual error in a byline, a misattributed quote, or an incorrect chart position — we aim to investigate and resolve the matter within 10 working days. For more complex complaints, those involving sensitive editorial decisions, or issues requiring legal or rights review, we may need additional time. In such cases, we will inform you of the likely timeline and provide regular updates on the investigation.
After our review, we will provide you with a clear written outcome. Possible outcomes include:
- Correction: The error is corrected in the article with a note at the bottom, and we direct you to our corrections policy for full details.
- Clarification: The original content is deemed accurate but ambiguous, and we add a clarification to aid reader understanding.
- Update: The article is updated with new information or context, and the nature of the update is disclosed.
- Removal: In rare cases where content is found to be factually unsupportable, in breach of our editorial policy, or legally problematic, the article may be taken down entirely.
- No action: If we determine that the content is accurate, fair, and complies with our standards, we will explain our reasoning to you in full.
In all cases, our response will include an explanation of the decision and, where appropriate, a link to any changes made.
Escalation for serious matters
If you are not satisfied with the initial response, or if your complaint concerns a matter of editorial integrity, serious misrepresentation, or a potential breach of our code of conduct, you may escalate your complaint to our Editor-in-Chief. Please address correspondence to Oliver Kingsley at oliver.kingsley@playlisteruk.co.uk with “Escalated Complaint” in the subject line. Oliver will personally review the case, oversee a further investigation if required, and issue a final decision.
Important distinctions
This procedure is for editorial complaints only. For straightforward factual errors that do not require a formal complaint, we encourage you to use our corrections process instead. If your concern relates to how we handle your personal data, please refer to our privacy policy. For all other general inquiries, see our contact page.
We value the trust our readers place in us and are dedicated to resolving concerns with professionalism and respect. Your feedback helps us improve.
